Weekend Recap

Hello all. I'm back at work, and feeling much better than I was last week. Thank goodness! My weekend of animal love certainly helped lift my spirits.

Luna was still with me this weekend, and I was also still on Poco and Otis duty. I really liked spending time with all three. Their owners are all back in town now, and I'm actually a little sad! I need a pet of my own.

I'll admit that I ate terribly last week - not so uncommon considering how stressed and upset I was. On Sunday I woke up and decided enough was enough! I went to the grocery store and bought stuff to make actual meals.

Wegmans has a salad in their prepared foods section that I am obsessed with, so I decided to recreate it on my own. Here's what you need in case you want to make one too:

- romaine lettuce
- black beans
- corn
- cherry tomatoes
- red bell pepper
- turkey
- white cheddar cheese
- green onions
- ranch dressing

You should really try it. It is "the bomb."

I also watched a few movies this weekend (we currently don't have internet, which means no Netflix). After hitting up Redbox on Friday night, I watched "Mockingjay Part I" - basically a long preview for the final Hunger Games movie. It was alright, not amazing. On Saturday I dug into the DVDs we have at home and watched "She's the Man" starring Amanda Bynes. I really liked it! I'm sure I've seen it before but it had been so long that it was like watching it for the first time. Then last night, after another trip to Redbox, Andy and I watched Boyhood. It was ok... I guess.. but reeaaaally long, and nothing. ever. happened. Plus I found the boy to be disgusting. He needed a haircut and a shower stat. Ok, I guess I really just didn't like it.

It looks like we won't have internet until May 9th, so with that being said... does anyone have any good movie recommendations?

What a week...

Well, this has been one hell of a week.

It started with me sending an email to my friend at work where I was making fun of our CEO. Oh wait, only problem is I sent it to the entire office, including the CEO, by mistake. So I pretty much wanted to vomit, crawl in a hole, and die.

I also had jury duty this week. After the email disaster, I was SO thankful to have to report for jury duty. I'd take any reason to get out of the office after that. Well it just so happens that this week they were finding a jury for one of the most well known cases in Rochester - the murder of a Rochester Police Officer.

I spent two days at the courthouse being questioned for that case. It was very interesting. My pool of jurors began with over 100 people and I made it to the final 16, but alas I was not chosen (only 4 people were actually selected). I was really disappointed. I liked not being at work and the prospect of not having to go to work for a month. I also felt like what I was doing mattered, that I was important, that I mattered. Clearly I don't feel that way at my job right now... perhaps a sign. The good thing about not being selected is that I won't have to sit as much. I spent a LOT of time sitting and waiting. Here was one of the views I had in one of the many waiting rooms I sat in.

In other news, I am the pet whisperer this week. I have Luna (Will and Rose's dog) living with me this week, and am also visiting Poco and Otis (Anna's kitty cats) daily. They are all so cute, and their innocent pet love has been much appreciated this week.

Oh also, it's snowed here for the last two days.

Come on weather... enough's enough! Hopefully things start to turn around.

Weekend Recap

Hello! Here's a look at what went down over the weekend.

On Friday night, Andy and I had dinner at home and then went to see the Peking Acrobats perform with the RPO. The performance was really cool - kind of like Cirque du Soleil but more... exotic. Back at home, Andy Pepin attempted to make a berry galette and had one of his first kitchen fails.

Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious and we ate every bite, but it didn't turn out quite as planned. :-)

Saturday was pretty typical - had to work Job #2. That evening was our fancy-pants benefit dinner that we were invited to. Here's the outfit I ended up putting together, thanks to Anna's incredible support and patience with me (she actually picked out my dress at Lord at Taylor!).

A lady at our table said I looked like Kate Middleton! Best compliment ever!!!!! The event was nice, but I did feel out of place... we were so much younger than everyone there (not to mention so much poorer). Oh well!

Sunday was an ultra lazy day. I wore sweat pants all day. Anna and I got FroYo and watched iZombie. It was pretty awesome.

In other exciting news, my April Glossybox arrived this weekend!

Isn't the box cute?! This time I got a navy blue eyeliner, perfume, a dark spot corrector, a split end treatment, and a lip stain. I'm excited to try them all!

If I were to choose 5 things for a Glossybox, here's what I would put in:

1) Schwarzkopf Bonacure Repair Rescue Sealed Ends

2) Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Washable Mascara

3) Kenra Professional Platinum Hot Spray 20

4) Banana Boat Moisturizing Aloe After Sun Lotion

5) Victoria's Secret Sexy Little Things Noir Eau de Parfum

Yep, that would pretty much make a box of Barbara, at least at the moment. What 5 things would you put in a Glossybox?

I'm Important

Last week my CEO asked me to attend a benefit for a local music school. I said ok. I found out on Monday that it is a black tie optional event. The event is this Saturday... If you didn't follow all of that, this means I have less than a week to find a dress to wear to a black tie optional gala. Shoot me.

I went out shopping on Monday after work and tried on a gajillion dresses. None of them did anything for me. However, I did manage to buy a new shirt and pair of pants for a video shoot that I had coming up. At least I accomplished something at the mall!

On Tuesday I worked both jobs. Meh. But as I was walking out to my car at the end of the night, I saw a big bunny!!! How cool!

Anyway, Wednesday was my video shoot. Here's the outfit I wore...

I thought the colorful shirt and pants said, "I'm creative!" While the blazer said, "Yet I'm still professional." The shoes... well they just say I'm lazy, but I was assured my feet would not be in the video. I also made sure to take my Garmin off as well.

I'm perfectly comfortable speaking in front of people, but I will say it was nerve wracking to say lines to a camera without seeming like I was "reading." I'm curious to see how it will turn out. My friend Michelle was there to help, so I trust her when she said it went ok. :-)

And last but not least, my friend Lani had a cake tasting appointment for her wedding and brought the extras in for me to try. !!! Cake tasting was one of my favorite parts of planning my wedding, so I was excited to quasi-take part in her's too!

Let's have a list shall we?

What are your favorite cake flavors?? Here are mine:

LEMON
FUNFETTI
(I have capitalized both because I feel THAT strongly about them)
Vanilla with good buttercream frosting
Chocolate with good buttercream frosting
German Chocolate
Carrot

I think that's probably all of the cake the exists... so... well, what can I say, I like cake!

And speaking of cake, today is Sharman's Birthday!!! Anna and Lisa's mom is one of my favorite people, and I always love when she comes to visit! Happy Birthday Sharman!!!!

Sad Times

I. am. still. sick.

It's been almost two whole weeks at this point. Laaaaaaame.

When I don't feel good/happy, regardless of the situation, I turn to food for comfort - which explains why the only pictures I took this week are food related. :-)

Last week I was very bad at bringing my lunch to work, so I ate out quite a bit. Above is a picture from Strombolis. If you look in the upper right hand corner you will see the employee of the month.... Chien-Kwan was my saxophone professor at Eastman!!! lol. Apparently he really likes Strombolis!!!

Andy and I were able to go out to dinner on Thursday. I had had a very stressful one-on-one meeting the day before with our CEO, so I wanted something special. Hello casino buffet!!!! I love going to a casino - it makes me feel like I'm on vacation. I played the slots a little bit but had no luck. Oh well, it was still fun!

So yeah, lots of eating "baddies" as I call them. The weather is actually quite nice today, which honestly stressed me out. I have nothing to wear in warmer weather at the moment (last summer's clothes definitely do not fit). Sigh. Why is it so hard?!

In other incredibly sad news, Bailey went to the rainbow bridge on Saturday. I'm glad she's not hurting anymore, but I will miss her so much. I am sure she and Phoebe are having a grand time together.

Goodbye Bailey Brown. You will be loved forever.

Sick of Being Sick

I started feeling a sore throat come on around Thursday. Aaaand it's just gotten worse. I'm pretty sure it's just a cold, but I haven't felt this sick in a long time. Ugh. What a downer.

Here are the top three things I've done despite feeling gross.

1) Dinner at P.F. Changs. I don't know why, but I've wanted to try this place for a few years now. It's a chain, which is not usually mine and Andy's style, but he agreed, and we both ended up liking it!

2) A trip to Lollypop Farm. This is the most amazing animal shelter I've ever been to (granted I've only ever been to one other). Nothing struck our fancy, but it was fun to see all of the animals they had up for adoption, including horses!!

3) Friend time. Bipul came to town for Easter and we got together for a low key game of Scrabble. I came in last place. :-( That is not like me and I'd like to blame my cold for my poor performance, lol.

Other than that I've done a lot of sleeping and/or laying on the couch. Not the most exciting weekend.

What do you do when you're sick?

I'm back!!

H.o.l.y. C.o.w.

http://www.accentsavvy.com/blog-accent-reduction/2014/10/1/holy-cow-idiom

I have been SOOOOO busy at work. Finally things have slowed down, so here I am again! This is in no way a full recap of everything that has happened, but it's what I happened to take pictures of, so here you go...

I celebrated my birthday along with other coworkers' at Job #1's Saint Patrick's themed March birthday celebration.

I attended customer service training for Job #2. This is a tower I built out of 6 pieces of paper (nothing else).

Andy made a lovely brunch to celebrate Anna and Bipul's two year anniversary. Congrats!

I worked my tail off to run four field-trip concerts.

I glued a ton of magnets to tiles (among other things) to prepare for the Peter and the Wolf kids' activities for last Sunday's family concert.

Lisa treated Laura, Elizabeth, and I to a fun manicure outing. It was awesome!

I took this last Monday off and had an AMAZINGLY productive day. Then back to work... including a site visit to a newly renovated auditorium in an old high school.

Aaaand now it's Thursday, and I am done for the week!!!! We have Friday off - I work Job #2 on Saturday, but that's not so bad - then Easter Sunday! And when I return on Monday, I promise to resume posting on a more regular basis again.

It's good to be back!
